FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Alaska State Troopers were searching for two men from Nenana who disappeared over the weekend.
William Fairbanks Sr. and William Fairbanks Jr. headed out in a boat on the Tanana River Saturday and were expected back within eight hours. They were reported missing when they failed to return to Nenana by Saturday night.
Troopers said enough ice had accumulated on the river to render boat travel nearly impossible. Troopers flew over the search area Sunday without seeing any sign of the men or their boat.
The search was continuing, but investigators said it was difficult because they didn't know much about the Fairbanks' travel plans or their preparations for the trip.
