Anchorage man dies in ultralight aircraft crash

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The pilot of an ultralight aircraft died Sunday morning after crashing into woods in Birchwood.

The name of the Anchorage man will not be released until his next of kin is notified.

Anchorage police said the man took off at about 10 a.m. from a small airfield. The airplane crashed into trees near Chandelle Drive.

Neighbors called police at 10:06 a.m. and the pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.
