Snow removal, safety reminders issued

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Road Service Area reminds area residents is illegal to plow private snow onto or across the road surface in a manner or in quantities that may constitute a hazard to snow removal equipment or other traffic. Illegal plowing causes safety hazards as well as additional cost. This cost is incurred by the taxpayer.

Residents are asked to help protect their children by informing them of the danger of playing in snow piles and berms near roadways. Operators of heavy equipment used in snow removal may have difficulty seeing children.

Veterans Day ceremony planned

There will be a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. today at the Soldotna Sports Center. VFW Post No. 10046 will host. The public is encouraged to attend. For more information, call Herb Stettler at 262-1237.

Multiple sclerosis group to meet

The multiple sclerosis support group will meet at noon today in the Iliamna Room at Central Peninsula General Hospital. Participants are asked to bring a lunch. For more information, call Barbara at 394-6746.

Women voters to meet today

The Central Peninsula League of Women Voters will meet at 4 p.m. today at the home of Marge Hays. The article on "Gaza" will be discussed. For directions, call 262-3908.

College council meeting set

Childbirth film offered

There will be a free film showing and class in the Bradley method of childbirth at 7:30 p.m. today in Soldotna. For more information and the location, call Olga at 262-9291.

Genealogical society to meet

The Totem Tracers Genealogical Society will holds its "Resource Saturday" from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Public Library. For more information, call 283-4481.

Coping with holidays workshop scheduled

Hospice of the Central Peninsula is hosting a "Coping With The Holidays" workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the hospice office in Soldotna. Hospice Bereavement coordinator Sue Zurfluh will discuss grief, and Kenai Peninsula College instructor Cathleen Ralph will lead a visual art workshop. For more information call hospice at 262-0453.

Applications available for light parade

Applications are available for the Electric Light Parade slated for Nov. 26. This year's theme is "Its a Small World." The parade is one of the activities associated with Christmas Comes to Kenai. Applications are available at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce. For more information, call 283-7989.
