Beta Sigma Phi tea planned

Beta Sigma Phi will hold a preferential tea for new members at 2 p.m. today at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road in Soldotna. Beta girls past and present may attend.

Counseling association seeks members

Kenai Peninsula Counseling Association is seeking new members. Members can be professionals in counseling, students in the field or other interested community members. The group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Central Peninsula Counseling Services at 506 Lake St. in Kenai.

Public health plans one-day closure

Kenai Public Health Center will be closed Monday. It will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday. For more information, call 335-3400.

Women invited to take-a-break

Peninsula Take-A-Break is inviting women to a country fair brunch, craft, gift sale and auction from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Solid Rock Bible Camp conference center. Women are asked to bring food, craft or other items to sell or auction off. Donations will support Stonecroft and Village Mission pastors. Music will be by Sheila Bierdeman and the featured speaker will be Peggy Alldredge. Her topic will be how she overcame fear that consumed her. The cost is $10. Childcare will be provided. Caregiver Appreciation Day set

National Family Caregiver Support Group will host Caregiver Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center. Twenty agencies and merchants will be represented. Workshops also will be offered on the half hour.

The featured speaker will be Elaine Sanchez, author of the book "Letters from Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver." Sanchez will speak from 1 to 2 p.m. and be available to talk to caregivers throughout the day. Food and prizes are planned.
