Sterling resident Elisa Louise Weathers died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, from heart failure at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. She was 58.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Polar Drive off of Kalifornsky Beach Road in Soldotna.
Mrs. Weathers was born June 20, 1951, to Bernard and Merle Mason in Washington. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Rainier School in Washington where she loved helping children. Mrs. Weathers resided in Juneau from 1963 until 1987 when she moved to Dexter, Ore. In 1990 she returned to Alaska and lived in Sterling. She worked at Fred Meyer Nutrition Center in Soldotna. Mrs. Weathers was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed reading, gardening, playing piano and tea cup collecting.
"Elisa will be remembered as always smiling," her family said.
Mrs. Weathers was preceded in death by her mother, Merle Mason.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Bruce Weathers of Sterling; sister-in-law, Gail Weathers of Marcola, Ore.; mother-in-law and father in-law, Gordon and Clara Weathers of Marcola; father, Bernard Mason of Juneau; sisters, Loretta and Julia Benegni, and their family of Juneau, Evelyn Hager and her husband, Glen, and their family of Puyallup, Wash., Bernice Chimelier and her husband, William, and their family of Juneau and Joan Baker and her husband, Gary, and their family of Juneau; brothers, Nathan Mason and his wife, Mary, and their family of Oregon, and Frank Mason and his wife, Evon, and their family of Juneau; and many nieces, nephews.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
