Homer Electric crews spent another busy day restoring power from North Kenai to Seldovia.

As of Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m., there were a total of 28 active outages on the system, leaving approximately 600 members without electricity.

The majority of outages were concentrated in Kasilof along Kalifornsky Beach Road, with additional outages being reported on West Poppy Lane, leaving 145 homes without power. Another outage at Big Eddy Road in Soldotna, with 356 homes dark, was repaired about 4:30 p.m.

Some 1,200 members lost power about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday when a tree fell into the power line near Big Eddy Road in Soldotna. Crews were able to make repairs, restoring electric service shortly after 8 a.m.

Strong winds and heavy snow load caused 21 separate outages in the central Peninsula area Wednesday morning, including Kasilof, Funny River Road, North Kenai (Holt-Lamplight neighborhood and Bernice Lake) and Lakeside Avenue near Echo Lake Road.

Residents should call the outage hotline at 1-888-8OUTAGE (1-888-868-8243) to report any outage. HEA reminds residents to stay away from any downed power lines.
