Community rewards students' achievements

Posted: Monday, November 12, 2007

The Kenai Central High School Academic Banquet was held Nov. 5 at the school. One hundred ten students were honored for earning a GPA of 3.5 or above during spring semester of 2007.

Mandy (Baldwin) Hawes, 1995 KCHS graduate and current CFO of Alyeska Resort, was the featured guest speaker. Special thanks go to Molly Watkins, KCHS junior, for providing musical entertainment, and to the Academic Recognition Committee: Alan Fields, Loren Reese, Connie Jung, Jon Lillevik and Tim Delaney. Thank you, also, to McDonald's for paying program expenses and providing coupons for the recognized students. A thank you also is in order for Alyeska Resort, which donated two all-day lift tickets to be given as door prizes for the evening.

We are lucky to live in a community with such hard-working, talented students and businesses so willing to recognize their accomplishments.
