Soldotna resident Albert Hugh "Nick" Nicholson died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at his home. He was 71.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the residence of Tom Nicholson in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-1301. Mr. Nicholson's cremated remains will be laid to rest at the family cemetery in Union, Miss.
Mr. Nicholson was born June 21, 1936, to Archie Coyt and Ruth Elaine (Galloway) Nicholson in Canton, Miss. He joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Nicholson moved to Soldotna in February 2004 to be closer to family.
"He enjoyed watching sports on TV but was fond of football, especially whichever team was winning," his family said.
Mr. Nicholson is survived by his sons, Tommy R. Nicholson Sr. and his wife, Mary Nicholson of Soldotna and Albert H. Nicholson Jr. of Los Angeles; daughters, Pamela Sitchler of Soldotna, Darlene Abbas of Highland, Calif., and Beverly Shackford of Nuevo, Calif.; grandchildren, Tammy Griffith of Vicksburg, Miss., Tommy Nicholson Jr. and his wife, Dollie Nicholson of Soldotna, Renee Doyle of Kenai, Thomas Nicholson of Soldotna and Thomasina Williamson of Nikiski; 13 other grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
