NOME (AP) -- The body of an Elim man missing after his snowmachine sent through the ice has been found, Alaska State Troopers said Sunday.

The body of Garrett Nakarak, 19, was found by searchers on Sunday near Moses Point in the Kwinkuk Inlet area, near the area where Nakarak was reported to have gone into the water on Nov. 2.

Nakarak was on a trip to Koyuk with another Elim man when the mishap occurred. The two left Elim, then apparently got lost and tried to make it back to Elim. But when they tried to cross the Inglutalik River, both snowmachines went into open water and sank.

The other man, 22-year-old Tony Moore, made it to shore and got to a nearby cabin for shelter. He was found trying to walk out for help.
