Alliance meets over lunch today

The Alaska Support Industry Alliance Kenai Chapter meeting will be held today at Paradisos Restaurant. The cost is $11. The topic will be a progress report on the gas-to-liquids plant.

The speaker will be Paul Richards, operations manager BP GTL plant.

Junior Miss contestants guests at chamber lunch

The speakers this week at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce luncheon will be Kathy Gensel and the 18 contestants in the Alaska Junior Miss competition.

The lunch is at noon at the Riverside House. Everyone is invited to attend.

Small business seminar set for Wednesday

The Small Business Development Center is offering a seminar entitled "Opening the door to entrepreneurial success," today from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Red Diamond Center. The cost is $15. For more information, call 262-7497.

Job Center advisory committee meets Wednesday

The Alaska Job Center local advisory committee will meet Thursday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Kenai Peninsula Job Center office. Lunch will be provided.

Practice for Christmas Eve cantata to be Wednesday

The choir of the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant in Kenai is practicing for its Christmas Eve cantata.

Community members are invited to sing with the choir. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. and select Saturdays. For more information, call Kari Mohn at 283-4258.

Juvenile detention facility panel to meet Thursday

The Kenai Peninsula Juvenile Detention Facility committee will meet Thursday at 3 pm. at the Legislative Information Office in Kenai. Topics will include the status of the property and the need for members to serve on an advisory committee. For more information, call 262-4073.

Builders association's banquet slated for Thursday

The Kenai Peninsula Builders Association will hold its annual banquet and installation of officers for 2002 Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Town Village Restaurant in Kenai.

Marketing council to hold its banquet Friday

The Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council will host its 10th anniversary banquet and auction at the Kenai Senior Center at 6:30 p.m. The event is open to the public, but space is limited. For tickets or more information, call 283-3850.

Christmas bazaar scheduled for Saturday

A Christmas bazaar sponsored by the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and AAL Branch No. 7310 will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Star of the North Lutheran Church, 216 North Forest Drive in Kenai. Handcrafted items and baked goods will be available. All proceeds benefit mission projects, local, national and international.

Santa's elves to gather Saturday

Soldotna Community Schools is offering its annual Santa's Elves class taught by Soldotna Middle School teacher John Tabor.

The class is for anybody who wishes to help manufacture and assemble wooden toys for needy families for Christmas. Elves are encouraged to bring their own tools when they meet at the SMS wood shop. For more information, call 262-6768.
