School board meets Monday
The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District's Board of Education meets Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Borough Building in Soldotna. All school board meetings are open to the public.
Agendas are available at the meeting or at the district's Web site at www.kpbsd.k12.ak.us.
Schools to close for Thanksgiving
There will be no classes at area schools Nov. 28 and 29 in observance of Thanksgiving. Schools will reopen at their usual times Dec. 2.
Organizations planning literacy carnival
Phi Delta Kappa, the Kenai Peninsula Reading Council and Soldotna Community School are seeking community members to participate in their "Love of Reading" carnival, from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 1 at Soldotna Middle School.
The carnival will include a variety of activities to promote literacy, and area individuals and organizations are invited to attend. Booths are available for entertainment, games and information. A minimum donation of $10 per booth is requested. Groups interested in performing area welcome as well.
