Dead trees blamed for Moose Pass outage

A pair of beetle-killed spruce trees blew into a Chugach Electric Association power line at Moose Pass, causing a two-hour power outage for 122 customers Monday morning.

Power went out at 9:28 a.m. and was restored at 11:38 a.m., after a Chugach crew found and removed dead spruce trees that had apparently blown down from outside the utility's cleared right of way at two separate locations, according to a press release from Chugach.

Soldotna chamber to meet today

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its weekly luncheon at today at the Riverside House. Harry Lockwood, of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, will speak. For more information, call 262-9814.

Flu shot available

Computer workshop offered

Youth facility committee invites public to comment

A public meeting of the Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility Committee will be held at 6 tonight in the Assembly Chambers of the Kenai Peninsula Borough Building. Public opinions are sought on the need for the facility, the correctness of the Marathon Road site and what, if any, benefits a youth facility will have for juveniles and the community, as well as the long range impact such a facility may have on families and individuals involved with police. Ninilchik firefighters to hold membership meeting

Small business center to hold open house

The Kenai Peninsula Small Business Development Center will hold an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at 43335 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Suite 16, in Soldotna. The purpose of the event is to introduce new and prospective business owners to the SBDC's new facilities, including the small resource library. The public is invited.

A seminar entitled "Developing a Business Plan" will follow the open house at 1 p.m.

KDLL board to meet

KDLL will hold its monthly board meeting at the KDLL studio, located in the Economic Development District Building three miles north of Kenai, at 7 p.m. Nov. 30. The meeting is open to the public.
