Event comes together with help from many

The Rotary Club-Kenai River, Soldotna, wishes to express our gratitude to all who made the recent "From China with Fun," a wonderful fun-filled, family event. Funds raised from the evening will go toward literacy programs on the peninsula that include the Read to Your Baby Program, providing new moms and babies born at Central Peninsula Hospital with information on how to raise a reader and baby's first hard-back book in a nice cloth book bag.

More than 200 individuals attended the event MC'd by Charlissa Magen and co-hosted by Dr. Jerry and Sharon Hu.

There are so many individuals who helped make this a great community event, but special thanks are in order for the Golden International Restaurant, Dr. Jerry and Sharon Hu, Mrs. Hua, James Fan, Kenai Peninsula College ESL program, Coca Cola Co., Charlotte's Catering, Peninsula Clarion, Peterkin Food Distributors, Bud Draper and students of Tang Soo Do, John Howland and students of Tai Chi, Merrill Sikorski, Soldotna Montessori School, Grant Aviation, Millennium Hotel, the Duck Inn's special unintended auction item of Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Paul Gray for his assistance with sound/projectors.

It is our desire to continue to build on events like this for our communities that are educational, fun and serve a greater local or world need at the same time. Thanks to all who attended and who are helping to promote literacy at every level.
