Micki Kobylk, age 56 of Sterling, died Thursday in a traffic collision after she lost control of her vehicle and slid into oncoming traffic.

Kobylk, who was driving a 2006 Ford Freestyle, was heading south on the Sterling Highway near mile 61 when her car was struck by a 2007 GMC pickup truck driven by Michael Montanye, of Anchorage. Montanye, 47, who was driving north, hit Kobylk's vehicle on the passenger side.

Kobylk sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead on scene, according to the Alaska State Troopers report.

Troopers responded to the call at approximately 6:17 p.m.

Montanye was transported to Central Peninsula Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Both Montanye and Kobylk were wearing their seat belts and both vehicles' air bags deployed.

No alcohol or drugs are suspected at this time. Standard winter road conditions were observed.

The investigation is still continuing.
