Photo feature: Seeing stars

Posted: Sunday, November 14, 2010

Challenger Learning Center president and CEO Emeritus Larry Porter is a silhouette against the surface of the Magic Planet, a rotating spherical projection unit the center unveiled to the public Friday night during a center "Star Party." The device is a learning tool the center can use to illustrate everything from global weather patterns to planetary astronomy. The question most people asked after seeing the unit in action was, "Where can I get one?"

Other stations around the facility offered participants the chance to play with robotics, learn about astronomy and, at right, participate in teamwork exercises.
