New home for Soldotna Toastmasters

Soldotna Toastmasters has now permanently changed its meeting location: Soldotna City Hall at their regular meeting time: Mondays at noon. Guests are always welcome; the club aims to improve public speaking skills in a friendly environment. For information, call Ben Stanton, 283-8414.

North Pen Rec to fill board seat

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area Board of Directors will hold public interviews to fill the Seat A vacancy at 6 p.m. Monday at the Nikiski Pool, with the regular board meeting to follow at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call 776-8800.

MOMS Club for at-home mothers meets

The local chapter of the MOMS Club, an international non-profit support organization for at-home mothers, will be having their November meeting on Monday, Nov. 15, at 9:30 a.m. in Soldotna. Youth invited to learn to hunt

The Kenai Peninsula Chapter of Safari Club International (SCI) and 4-H Shooting Sports Program in partnership with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game's Hunter Education Program, is once again inviting youngsters 16 years of age and younger (minimum age of 10) to participate in an organized small game hunting experience. Each weekend from Nov. 1 through the end of December, pairs of adult Hunter Education and 4-H certified mentors will escort pairs of youths for one day of supervised small game hunting. Parents and guardians are welcome to participate.

SCI will supply the firearms and instruction, ammunition, transportation and lunch. Fish and Game's Hunter Education Program will supply orange vests, hearing and eye protection. If not already certified, participating youth will be encouraged to sign up for an upcoming Hunter Education certification class and the 4-H Shooting Sports Program. Holiday support from Hospice

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will facilitate a no-host dinner at 6 p.m., Nov. 18, at Froso's in Soldotna, to help people cope with the holidays after the death of a loved one. For more information and to register please call Hospice at 262-0453.

Child safety seat inspections continue

Is your child in the right car safety seats? Stop in at your local fire departments and have a child passenger safety technician check your child's seat:Nov. 15, at the Nikiski Fire Department Station No. 1, 1 to 3 p.m.; and Nov. 17, at the CES/Soldotna Fire Station, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
