WASILLA (AP) -- A couple was arrested at their home outside Wasilla after a police search uncovered a methamphetemine lab set up in the home, Alaska State Troopers said Wednesday.
Members of the Mat-Su Drug Team arrested Fred Esquerra, 34, and his 27-year-old wife, Amy, on Tuesday. Four young children in the home at the time were placed in temporary foster care.
Officers confiscated methamphetemine and materials used in its production. They said when they arrested the couple a batch of methamphetamine was cooking on the stove.
The Esquerras were taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where they were charged with several counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance. Additional charges of endangering the welfare of a minor were referred to the Palmer District Attorney's Office.
Bail was set at $40,000 each.
