Flu shots available at Soldotna Senior Center

Pneumonia, influenza and tetanus shots will be given from 9 a.m. to noon today at the Soldotna Senior Center. Anyone interested in receiving a shot must sign up for a time. A donation of $10 is requested; Medicare recipients may bill Medicare.

Play and reading group meets today

Preschoolers up to 5 years old and their parents may join the Read and Run Play Group from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today at the Sterling Elementary School gymnasium. Activities include reading and free play time with the Sterling Elementary first graders. For more information, call 262-7293.

North Peninsula chamber to meet

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will hold its weekly luncheon today. Dr. David Shoemaker, of the Batterers Intervention Program, will speak. The meeting begins at noon at the Lighthouse Inn.

Career exploration seminar offered

A Career Exploration Seminar will be provided from noon to 1 p.m. today at Kenai Peninsula College, in room 124. The seminar will cover career investigation strategies, jobs of the future, resume writing, interviewing skills and internships. Registration is not required. The seminar is free. Job Center offers open house

The Job Center will hold an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. today at its location in the Kenai mall. Information on the center's services for employers, employees and job seekers will be presented, along with information from BP and the Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District.

Additional performance of 'The Foreigner' offered

The Kenai Performers will present "The Foreigner" at 6:30 tonight at Old Town Village Restaurant. The production will not be a dinner theater event, like Friday's and Saturday's sold-out events. Dinner may be purchased separately before the show, but the restaurant will stop serving dinner at 6 p.m. to accommodate the performance. Those attending are asked to order dinner before 6 p.m.

The cost for attending the play is $10. Sunday's matinee also is $10. Seating for tonight and Sunday is limited. Tickets are available at River City Books in Soldotna, at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center and at the restaurant.

Students who were invited to attend Thursday's show still have their seats and should call 776-8308 if they plan to attend.

League of Women Voters meeting Thursday

The Kenai Peninsula Chapter of the League of Women Voters will hold its November dinner meeting at 6 tonight at the Old Town Restaurant, 1000 Mission St. in Kenai.

Discussion will focus on League issues and scheduling speakers for 2001. Interested parties may attend. For more information, call 283-4359.

Parenting program offered

The Kenai Peninsula Community Care Center offers a video-based parenting program, "Active Parenting of Teens," from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Central Peninsula General Hospital, FRC room 3. For more information, call 283-7635.

Flu shots available at Homer Public Health Center
