Potters awards presented

Awards were presented at the Nov. 4 reception of the Kenai Potters Guild's 13th annual Clay Exhibition. The winners are:

First place -- Alis Carroll, Bird Creek;

Second place -- Peter Brondz, Bird Creek;

Third place -- Paul Dugan, Homer;

Honorable mention -- Peggy Gill, Anchor Point;

Honorable mention -- Annette Bellamy, Homer.

Purchase awards were made as follows:

Karlene Muller, Peggy Gill Thompson, Jeff Jefferson, Ann Wilson, Bonnie Nichols, Marie Herdegen, Tina Powers and Peter Brondz.

The exhibition runs through Nov. 30 at the Kenai Fine Arts Center.

Writers' Night entries sought

The fourth annual Central Peninsula Writers' Night will be held at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center on March 15. The doors open at 6 p.m., the event begins at 7.

Admission is $20 and includes door prizes and beverages. Students are free. Any writers who reside in the central Kenai Peninsula are eligible to submit entries.

The deadline for submissions is Feb. 23, and they should be mailed or dropped off at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. You must have an official entry form attached to the piece and the author's name should not be on the writing sample to keep everything fair.
