Kenai resident Monatna Margaret Piatt died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Heritage Place in Soldotna. She was 88.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the Soldotna Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Bill Congdon will officiate.
Mrs. Piatt was born Oct. 19, 1912, in Lewiston, Mont. She moved to Alaska on April 1, 1947. She lived in Southeast Alaska for 25 years and then in Southcentral Alaska for 28 years. She was a homemaker and a mother.
She was an active member of the Soldotna Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses until her death. She will be remembered for her many years of life devoted to the house-to-house ministry and Bible study work. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed needlework and was an avid reader.
Her family wrote, "She was loved for her strength of character and zest for life."
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Orin and Evelyn Piatt, Vern and Tina Piatt, Ben and Becky Piatt; daughter, Loree Marlin; grandchildren Lynn and Allan Casperson, Dan and Kathy Piatt, Duane and Melissa Piatt, Ben and Brenda Piatt, Shirin Piatt, Ned Piatt, Kerri and James Graham, Corina Basch, Leila Piatt, Tisaina and Cory Rowe, Aspen Marlin and Tineasha Marlin; great-grandchildren Brandon Casperson, Jessica Piatt, Ryan Piatt, Adrian Piatt, Camille Graham, Kylea Rowe and Zachary Piatt; brothers and their wives, Grant and Eldora Olds, Monte and Margarett Olds and Gary and Grace Olds; and sisters, June Hamilton and Sharon Nims.
