AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Jerry Stackhouse had 28 points and eight rebounds, and Cliff Robinson added 24 points to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 115-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night.
Robinson also helped limit Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki to 3-for-14 shooting and 10 points.
Detroit won for the fifth time in six games, avenging a season-opening loss to the Mavericks. The Pistons finished with a season-high in points and had 31 assists.
Knicks 83, Heat 74
NEW YORK -- Allan Houston scored 17 points, Latrell Sprewell added 16 and New York blew a big early lead before shutting down severely undermanned Miami in the fourth quarter.
Kurt Thomas started at center for the second straight game and had 13 points and 13 rebounds for New York, while Clarence Weatherspoon also started and scored 13.
Magic 101, Nuggets 82
DENVER -- Grant Hill scored 12 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and Tracy McGrady added 20 points in three periods as Orlando snapped Denver's three-game winning streak.
Darrell Armstrong and Pat Garrity each had 12 points for Orlando, which extended its winning streak over the Nuggets to nine games.
Lakers 98, Rockets 97, OT
HOUSTON -- Shaquille O'Neal scored 30 points and grabbed the final rebound in overtime, leading Los Angeles past Houston for its seventh straight win.
The Lakers blew a 15-point, third-quarter lead, but held on in overtime to stretch their record to 7-0, their best start since the 1997-98 team opened 11-0.
Trail Blazers 101, Grizzlies 85
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Rasheed Wallace scored 27 points, and Derek Anderson scored seven of his 18 points in 90-second span in the fourth quarter to lead Portland past Memphis, the Grizzlies' franchise-record eighth straight loss to open the season.
The Grizzlies opened the 1996-97 season with seven straight losses.
Bonzi Wells also scored 18 points for Portland. Ruben Patterson added 15 points, and Dale Davis finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Shane Battier had 30 points, five assists and three blocked shots for the Grizzlies. He shot 10-for-13 from the field and 7-for-9 from the line.
Lorenzen Wright added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis.
