Hospice hosts open house

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will hold an open house from noon to 6 p.m. today at the hospice office in Soldotna. For more information, call at 262-0453.

Tsalteshi Trails ski event today

Tsalteshi Trails Association will hold its winter kickoff event from 4 to 5 p.m. today at Skyview High School. Registration will be held from 3 to 3:45 p.m. in the school's commons. It will be an orienteering race. Chili and corn bread will be served and prizes will be awarded.

Youth snowmachine safety event offered

Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula will hold a free snowmachine safety event Saturday at Soldotna Middle School. Youth ages 6 to 9 may attend from 9 to 11 a.m. and youth ages 10 to 14 may attend noon to 2 p.m. Course length is one and a half hours.

Youth DOT full face helmets may be purchased for $25 after attending the safety stations. For more information, call 714-4539.

Church bazaar slated

The Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans annual bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Star of the North Lutheran Church at 216 N. Forest Drive in Kenai. For more information, call 262-1352.

Caregiver to be appreciated

National Family Caregiver Support Group will host Caregiver Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center.. Workshops will be offered.

The featured speaker will be Elaine Sanchez, author of the book "Letters from Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver." Sanchez will speak from 1 to 2 p.m. and be available to talk to caregivers throughout the day. Food and prizes are planned.

Adoption fair planned

The Office of Children's Services will hold an adoption celebration and resource fair from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road in Soldotna.

The event is to celebrate National Adoption Awareness Month and to provide a variety of information regarding the adoption process. For more information, call 283-0377.

Coping with the holidays to be discussed

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will hold a no host dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at Froso's Restaurant. Tips on coping with the holidays will be discussed. For more information or to register, call Gail at 262-0497.

Community dance Saturday

The Kenai River Folk Dancers will host a smoke- and alcohol-free community contra dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School. Live music will be provided by the Contra BanD. Hatton Greer will call the dances.

Beginners should come early, since the easiest dances start at 7 p.m. Participants should bring clean, nonmarking shoes and potluck snacks to share. Partners are not required. Admission is $5. Children under 16 can get in for free if accompanied by an adult. For more information, call Theresa Holland at 260-4171.
