Booster club to host bazaar

The Skyview Hockey Booster Club will host a holiday bazaar to help raise money for the hockey program today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Skyview High School in the commons area. There will be a sketch artist, homemade crafts, a cakewalk, face painting and hair wrapping. Admission is free.

Swim tryouts to begin

The Peninsula Piranhas Swim Team will begin tryouts at 5 p.m. Monday at Kenai Central High School. Those interested can register at that time. For more information, call the pool at 283-7476.

Hospital service area board to meet

The Central Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board's monthly meeting will be Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Iliamna room at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-9892.

Program to stimulate economic development

The HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program stimulates economic development and creates jobs in urban and rural communities by providing federal contracting preferences to small businesses. A workshop, targeted to potential HUBZone applicants, will provide information on the HUBZone program, the criteria for becoming certified, and cover the application process. The program will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Small Business Development Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road.

There is no charge. Registration is suggested and can be completed by calling Lou at 262-7497 or Rika at (800) 478-7232.

Love INC annual meeting scheduled

Love INC national president Robert Odom will address the group at its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai Merit Inn in Kenai.

Odom, who has spent 20 years leading organizations dedicated to impacting poverty, has testified before U.S. Senate committees about low-income housing and youth violence.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Love INC is a clearinghouse for churches to receive needs and respond to them with church volunteers. For more information, call 283-5252.

Bear activity presentation planned

Kenai Fjords National Park will present "The Bear Necessities," an informational presentation on how and why biologists study bear and human activity in Kenai Fjords National Park. The presentation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the park visitor center auditorium in Seward. For more information, call (907) 224-3175.
