Ms. Ralston's students are learned the following facts about faces during the body unit: that adults can recognize at least 500 different faces; when a person looks into the mirror, it is not the face that other people see it is reversed (swapped), left to right; and that sides of a person's face look the same. The students also cut out life-size body shapes. In math, students are working on subtraction, addition and sequencing numbers. In reading, students are working on long vowel sounds, prefixes and suffixes. During writing time, students created a story about their clubhouse and worked on describing words and punctuation. The students had an opportunity to read the stories to their peers. The class also had special guests come to the room this week.
Mrs. Moon's second-graders created fire safety books and read them to other students.
Then the first-graders taught "The Senses" song to Mrs. Moon's students. Ms. Ralston's first-graders will have their Thanksgiving play celebration at 2 p.m. Nov. 24 .
Miss. Fischer's class experimented with red, yellow and black paint as they created pictures of fire and discussed and practiced fire safety rules and procedures.
