Writers’ group to meet

The Central Peninsula Writers’ Group will meet at the Kenai Community Library at 6 p.m. today. Anyone wishing to share their work should bring at least one hard copy besides the one they will read.

Dance club seeks members

Twin Cities Dance Club offers country dance lessons from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sundays at its club at the corner of the Kenai Spur Highway and Beaver Loop Road.

Couple and line dancing is taught Tuesdays, couple dancing is taught Thursdays and swing dancing is taught Sundays. Community dances are held every other Saturday. For more information, call Joe Soares at 398-8234.

Stained glass classes offered

The Morning Star Studio in Homer is offering the following classes in November: mosaic wall mirror today and Friday, leaded glass series from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, beginning fusing from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, leaded glass series from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 26 and beginning fusing from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 26.

The December schedule is as follows: three-sided lamp from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 7, 8 and 9, intermediate fusing from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7, mosaic trivet or small mirror from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9, mosaic cross candle holder from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 10, stained glass nightlight from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 14, beginning fusing from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 14, glass on glass mosaic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 15, flamework ornaments with Steve Harrington from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 17, mosaic picture frame from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 21, beginning fusing from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 21 and fused jewelry from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 22.

Class prices vary from $40 for beginning stained glass class to $195 for flameworking classes. Prices include all supplies. Preregistration is required. The studio is at 451 Sterling Highway, Suite 4, in Homer. For more information, call (907) 235-2008.

Victorian carolers set to sing

Victorian carolers with traditional costumes may be booked to perform carols in a capella, four-part harmony starting Nov. 25. To book a performance, call Crista at 262-2825.

Theater offering gallery space

Triumvirate Theatre, a branch of the Alaska Children’s Institute for the Performing Arts that staged “Little Nell,” “Wait Until Dark” and “The Nazi Chronicles,” is looking for artists interested in displaying their work for sale in its new space in the Peninsula Center Mall. The theater has room for a used book store, a gallery and retail space in addition to the theater area.

All terms are negotiable, including the amount of space, the rent and the number of hours artists would be expected to work the space.

Storytellers wanted

Kenai Performers is looking for members for its storytelling troupe. Participants perform stories on predetermined themes. Performances are Sunday afternoons once a month, but members don’t have to participate that often.

Proposed themes are home and family stories for November, holiday stories from around the globe for December, fantasy or Alaska tales for January, Valentine stories for February, tropical tales for March and poetry for April.

Boys and Girls Club show open for entry

The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula will hold its annual Fine Arts Exhibit in December. To be eligible to submit work, participants must be 6 to 18 years old and be a club member in Nikiski, Soldotna, Kenai or the Kenai Teen Center prior to Sept. 15. All work must be completed entirely by the participant after Dec. 17, 2004.

Artwork must be received by the unit director by Dec. 3. Selected work will be screened at the regional level and a limited number will be sent to the national competition. For more information, call Kimberli Dent at 283-2682.
