Girls soccer team says thanks for Nev. support

Posted: Wednesday, November 17, 2010

The Riptide Under-14 Girls soccer team from the Kenai Peninsula Soccer Club played in the Las Vegas Mayors Cup Tournament Oct. 23 -- 24, in Las Vegas, Nev. The Riptide is comprised of girls from Kenai, Sterling, Soldotna and Nikiski. The girls played three games while in Las Vegas, beating two teams from Las Vegas and losing to a team from Reno. They played very well, surrendering only one goal during the course of the tournament.

This trip was made possible by the generous support of the people of the central Kenai Peninsula. Because of this generosity these girls were able to experience a trip that they will remember for the rest of their lives. All of the players, coaches and parents of the Riptide are sincerely thankful to our communities for this support.

Paul Ostrander, Jack Shaw and Wally Ward -- coaches

Brenda Johnson -- manager
