Kenai resident Deanna April Duck-Johnson died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna after a long illness. She was 36.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Soldotna Church of Christ. Pastor Tony Cloud will officiate.

Ms. Duck-Johnson was born Apr. 30, 1974, in Aberdeen, Wash. She attended Wishkah Valley School and graduated from Aberdeen High School. She also attended Grays Harbor College. She moved to Alaska in 1994.

Deanna worked as a customer service representative for Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, Wells Fargo Bank and Homer Electric Association.

She was a former member of the Kenai Christian Church and was a member of the Soldotna Church of Christ. She loved dancing, camping, spending time with family and interior decorating.

"Deanna was widely known for her sweet disposition," her family said. "She had a great passion for music and dancing and hoped to dance again. She loved cheerleading and drama. She loved watching musicals of all kinds and must have watched "Grease" over 150 times. She was looking forward to the new "Flashdance" movie coming out. We are sad she will never see it.

"Most important to Deanna was her children, home, family and friends. She always stood up for the underdogs and despised bullying of any kind. She was a loving and caring mother, daughter and sister and a loyal friend. She will be greatly missed by many. We are amazed by the outpouring of love and wonderful memories shared by friends here, in Aberdeen, Wash., and on Facebook."

Deanna was preceded in death by her grandfather, Albert H. Johnson; and her grandmother, Janett C. Garrett.

She is survived by her son, Jared Gentry Duck; daughter, Delaney Noelle Duck; her parents, David A. and M. Christina Johnson, all of Kenai; brother, Derek A. Johnson of Sterling; grandmother, Barbara Johnson, of Aberdeen, Wash.; grandfather, Robert C. Garrett, of Soldotna; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Alaska, Washington and around the country.

In lieu of flowers, please donate blood. An account has been established for her children at Alaska USA Federal Credit Union acct. #1567674.
