Singers to perform today

Hun-Huur-Tu, a group of throat-singers from the country of Tuva, northwest of Mongolia, will perform at the Mariner Theater in Homer at 7 p.m. today. Tickets are available by calling 235-7721 or at the door.

Hospice to host open house

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will hold an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday to recognize November as National Hospice and Palliative Care Month and to celebrate the 15 years hospice volunteers have provided programs and services. Hospice offices are in Soldotna at 312 Tyee St., No. 3. Refreshments will be served. For more information on hospice, call 262-0453.

Borough to hold discussion

The Kenai Peninsula Borough will have an open house and community discussion Wednesday at Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward. The meeting will be with landowners and agency representatives to identify problems and potential solutions to flooding issues in the Seward area.

The agency open house will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. with public testimony from 7 to 9:30 p.m. For more information, call Ed Oberts at 262-4441, ext. 201.

CES to hold board meeting

Central Emergency Services Area Board of Directors will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Station No. 1, 231 S. Binkley St. Regular agenda items and reports will be discussed. The public is welcome. For more information, contact Chief Jeff Tucker at 262-4792.

Performers to hold auditions

The Kenai Performers will hold auditions for the musical, "The Wiz," written by William F. Brown with music by Charlie Smalls. It is based on the story "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," by Frank Baum. Auditions will be held at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium at Kenai Central High School. Call backs will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 283-3635.

The Kenai Performers also are preparing Characters and Carolers for the holiday season. Those interested in reserving a Victorian a cappella quartet to sing at a home or business or to hire Santa, Mrs. Claus, elves, angels or the Grinch to personally deliver a package between Nov. 29 and Dec. 24 should call 283-3635.

Ice club plans fund-raiser

The Denali Ice Club is holding its annual Will Skate For Food fund-raiser for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. It will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center. The Soldotna Sports Center has donated the ice time for the show. People are asked to give as much as they are able to for admission.

Church to package cookies

The Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ Church will hold its Christmas cookie sale. It will include gift boxed assorted holiday cookies sold by the dozen or packaged by request. They are $3.50 per dozen. To order, call Nancy at 262-9693 or Tracey at 262-1423.
