Area chambers set schedule

Chambers of commerce speakers for the upcoming week include:

A representative from the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development will speak at the Nikiski Chamber of Commerce meeting today at noon at Lighthouse Community Church. Lunch is available for $10. The chamber will not meet Nov. 25 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. For more information, call Judene Van Cleave at 776-5551.

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will not meet Tuesday due to the Thanksgiving holiday. For more information, call Shanon Hamrick at 262-9814.

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will not meet Wednesday due to the Thanksgiving holiday. For more information, call the chamber at 283-7989.

The Alliance schedules meeting

The Alliance Kenai Chapter will meet at noon Tuesday at Paradiso's Restaurant in Kenai. The topic is "Cook Inlet 2005 and Beyond:Fitting the Pieces Together." The cost is $11. For more information, call 563-2226.

Shellfish aquaculture conference set

A detailed look at business opportunities and policy considerations for shellfish farming, shellfish enhancement and related initiatives will be the focus of the conference being held at the Anchorage Hilton Hotel on Dec. 3 and 4.

Businesses support food bank

The following area businesses will have collection barrels for food donations for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. Last year, the food bank was able to give away 300 turkeys.

Alaska USA Federal Credit Union will accept donations through Dec. 24.

Blood Bank of Alaska will accept donations from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Peninsula Center Mall.

Country Foods will accept donations through the end of December.

Soldotna Curves will offer a free service day with an annual contract for a donation of a 20-pound turkey made Monday through Wednesday.

ERA Aviation will offer fare discounts with a food donation.

The Kenai and Soldotna First National Bank of Anchorage offices will accept food donations Saturday through the end of December.

Fred Meyer will accept food donations Saturday through the end of December.

GCI will offer cable installation for $9.99 for food donations made through Wednesday.

Kenai and Soldotna Safeway stores have begun a turkey call, where participants tell the cashier and they will add the purchase of a turkey to benefit food bank families.

SAV-U-MORE will accept food donations through the end of December.

Three Bears will accept food donations through the end of December.

Kenai and Soldotna Wells Fargo offices will accept food donations through the end of December. There will be door prizes in Kenai.

Wildwood Correctional Facility will accept food donations through the end of December.
