Many helped to make recent gospel performance happen

I am writing to express the deep appreciation of all of us involved in the recent Alaska Tour of "The Gospel of John" with professional actor, Brad Sherrill.

The article by Victoria Steik in your October 21st edition, the interview with Brad by Mike Mason on KBBI and the radio interviews on KDLL and KSRM were of significant help in generating a fine audience for this singular event. There were 1,185 persons in attendance at the eight performances in five Alaskan communities. There was a capacity crowd of 225 at Christ Lutheran Church for the Kenai/Soldotna performance.

Special thanks is also due Rev. Dale Kelley of the Soldotna United Methodist Church for her tireless work as the local coordinator and host pastor, Randy Parshall. Many persons shared with me that the performance really brought the words of the New Testament of life and that they were deeply moved by the experience.

A dollar doesn't buy much in Alaska but it goes a long way in the developing world. The $5,500 raised by the tour will provide basic nutrition for 605 children for an entire month. These funds will be distributed through the relief agencies of the nine major church groups that sponsored the tour.

Thanks to the good people of Kenai and Soldotna for helping us make the tour such a success.
