ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man who walked into a day care center with a pistol was arrested Friday afternoon, according to police.
Hiroshima Yagananda, 43, was taken into custody shortly after 1:30 p.m. after he came into the center near his apartment, showed the day care manager a pistol, and talked about Satanism and people being killed.
The man shot his own television set shortly before coming to the center, according to a report by KTUU-TV.
There were about 30 children in the center when Yogananda arrived, police said. The manager spoke with him while other employees took the children out of the building.
The manager managed to grab the pistol when Yogananda laid it down to load bullets into a magazine. She then ran into an office, locked the door, and called police.
Yogananda was charged with assault and weapons misconduct.
