Mentasta man dies in snowmachine accident

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A 20-year-old Mentasta man died Friday morning after his snowmachine collided with another near Tetlin.

State troopers say Avery David died at the scene of the accident.

His machine hit another driven by a 14-year-old boy, who was not identified. The boy suffered a head injury and was taken by private vehicle to the Tok Clinic.

The boy was later medivaced to Fairbanks for treatment.

Neither driver was wearing a helmet. Troopers say alcohol use is suspected in the accident.
