Mayor to speak at sled dog meeting
Soldotna Mayor Dave Carey will be the featured speaker at the Peninsula Sled Dog monthly meeting Thursday at Sal's Diner. The business meeting will run form 7 to 9 p.m., followed by Carey. His topic of discussion will be the sled dog events at the Arctic Winter Games. The public is invited to attend and members are encouraged attend and show support for the games and sled dog racing. Educational forum scheduled
There will be an educational forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Soldotna High School Auditorium. Legislative representatives, school board members, borough and city officials and the Alaska Department of Education members will be present to discuss educational topics concerning the state and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District. Christmas cookies available
The Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ will hold its 24th annual Christmas cookie sale. The boxed cookies come in assorted variety and are sold on a preorder basis only. Cost of cookies is $4 per dozen. Orders are being taken through Dec. 5. Cookies are available for delivery or pick-up Dec. 10 through 13.

Electric light parade seeking entrants
The Kenai Chamber of Commerce has applications available for the ninth annual Electric Light Parade, scheduled for Nov. 28. The theme will be "Christmas Through the Eyes of a Child." Applications can be obtained at 402 Overland St. in Kenai. For more information, call 283-7989.
Kennel club offering dog classes
The Kenai Kennel Club is offering classes at its facility in the former Inlet Card and Craft store in the C Plaza in Kenai. Classes include beginning agility, puppy kindergarten, basic, intermediate and advance obedience, rally obedience and conformation handling.
