Square dancing lessons available

The Peninsula Promenaders host square dancing lessons from 7 to 9 p.m. every Friday at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School. Partners are not necessary. The public is invited. For more information, call Dudley at 260-2691.

Wallyball league forming

The Kenai Recreation Center is hosting an adult co-ed wallyball league. It will hold a round-robin kick-off tournament Dec. 4. All fees must be paid no later than Friday to be accepted into the league. For more information, call 283-3855.

Holiday bazaar planned

The Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will hold its annual holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. for 4 p.m. Saturday at the Star of the North Lutheran Church at 216 N. Forest Drive in Kenai. A variety of handmade crafts, baked goods and miscellaneous items will be available. All proceeds will go to support mission work. The public is invited.

NRA plans banquet

The Friends of the National Rifle Association will hold its annual banquet and auction at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Elks Lodge. It will include a catered dinner. Proceeds will be granted to groups to teach firearm safety and use on the Kenai Peninsula. For more information or tickets, call Scott at 776-7676 or 283-4481. Animal sanctuary fund-raiser slated

There will be a Chinese auction to benefit Alaska's Extended Life Animal Sanctuary from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Casino Bar in Kenai. Donations are being accepted. For more information or to make a donation, call Bridgett at 283-1412 or 252-9944.

Family concert set

Homer's Inlet Winds community band will give a free concert from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Ninilchik School Gym. The band plays Joplin rags, Dixieland, marches, swing, big band music and more. Ice cream dessert and coffee will be served by Close-Up students with donations to go on a trip to Washington, D.C.

Doughnut fund-raiser scheduled

The Kenai Crewsers rowing club will sell Krispy Kreme doughnuts to raise money for equipment at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kaladi Brothers Coffee Company and the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. Sales will continue as long as supplies last. For more information, call 283-4525 or 262-6037.

Rock-a-billy fund-raiser planned

A 1950s era rock-a-billy revival show featuring Joey Fender and the 55s will begin at 3 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium at Kenai Central High School. A second show will be held immediately following the first performance if more people show up than there are allotted seats.

Proceeds will benefit the purchase order program for travel allotments for area veterans using the Central Area Rural Transit System (CARTS). For more information, call Chuck at 283-2270.

Pie auction fund-raiser planned

The Crisis Pregnancy Center will hold a pie auction and pumpkin pie contest at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai Merit Inn. All proceeds will benefit the abstinence program that will take place in the spring at area high schools. Community members interested in entering the contest should call JoAnn Martin at 283-9424. Donations for the auction still are being accepted. to donate, call Marie Clausen at 283-7084.

The auction will include lamps, quilts, framed pictures and a grand prize flight-seeing trip. Prize drawings will be held throughout the evening.
