Health centers board to meet

Fire stations collect food

Food items for the annual Kenai Peninsula Food Bank holiday food drive my be dropped off at Central Emergency Services fire station between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. throughout November and December. Collection sites are at the main fire station on Binkley near the Sterling Highway in Soldotna, at the Sterling station at Mile 84 of the Sterling Highway and at Mile 13.5 of Kalifornsky Beach Road.

Salvation Army hosts Thanksgiving dinner

The Salvation Army's Thanksgiving Day dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Community Center Building on Forest Drive in Kenai. The dinner is free and open to the public.

Living with diabetes talk planned

In recognition of November being American Diabetes Month, Central Peninsula General Hospital will host a presentation by Bruce Linton from 7 to 8 p.m. Nov. 27 in the Iliamna Room at CPGH.

Linton, a Kasilof musher who has had Type 1 diabetes for 14 years, will present “Enjoying the Journey to Get to the Starting Line.”

Parents to plan after-grad party

Parents of Soldotna High School seniors are invited to attend an after-graduation student party planning meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 28 in the teachers’ workroom. Fundraising, food and decorations will be discussed. For more information, call Randy Milliron at 283-0507.

Women may register for basketball league

The Kenai Recreation Center is taking applications for the women’s city basketball league. The team fee of $250 is due by Dec. 8, and the first six teams to register by the deadline will be allowed to play. A player fee of $50 is due before the first game.
