The Soldotna Chamber presents the 10th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Wednesday Dec. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Soldotna CES. Come join us for cookies, hot cocoa and hay rides. Bring your camera and take pictures with Santa. For more information call the Chamber, 262-9814.

Women's cancer support group meets

Brewers meet monthly

The Kenai Peninsula Brewing and Tasting Society will be meeting monthly, on the first Wednesday of each month. We welcome homebrewers and beer lovers from the area to join us in experiencing good craft beer. Our next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 1, at Kenai River Brewing Company, 241 N. Aspen Dr., Suite #100, Soldotna. We will be adopting by-laws and electing officers at the December meeting. More info is available on our Facebook page. Former Nome residents get together

Former Nomeites living on the Peninsula: The Annual Nome Holiday Party in Anchorage will be held on Friday, Dec. 3, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. There is a $99 room rate for party attendees. Fundraiser for the Oskolkoff family

A silent auction/bake sale fundraiser will be held for the Oskolkoff family at Kenai Middle School, Nov. 20, from 2 -- 5 p.m. Donations can be brought in up to an hour before the event begins. For more information call Tiffany Woodward, 262-5843.

Help needed to fight illness

Friends and family of Shannon Perry are asking for donations to assist in obtaining surgery for abdominal adhesions. Donations will be used to cover the costs of the surgery as well as travel and hotel expenses. Donations can be made at Wells Fargo to the Shannon Perry Fund. Sign up for basketball

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula is taking registration for the upcoming youth basketball season.

For 7th and 8th graders the season runs from Jan. 17 to March 5, 2011. Games begin on Jan. 31. The fee is $70 for the program, and the player must be a 2011 member. The membership fee is $75. Registration deadline is Dec. 23, at 4 p.m.

For 3rd and 4th graders The season runs from Jan. 3 to Feb. 19, 2011. Games begin on Jan. 17. The fee is $60 for the program, and the player must be a 2011 member. The membership fee is $75. Registration deadline is Nov. 24, at 4 p.m.
