Glennallen skaters shut out Bulldogs

Posted: Monday, November 20, 2000

Glennallen defeated Nikiski at Glennallen on Thursday, 3-0. Bulldogs coach Irv Smith said that while fatigue is no excuse, the long trip was something he took into account in the loss.

"We'd just traveled eight hours and got off the bus and played," he said.

Smith said it was the team's first time on outdoor ice this year.

"All in all I thought they (the Bulldogs) played a good game," he said. "(It was) a game I thought we could've won."

Houston defeats Nikiski

The Bulldogs lost to Houston Saturday, 10-1.

"They just peppered us with shots," said Nikiski coach Irv Smith.

"They've got a pretty talented team," he added, "one of the best ones that we've faced so far."

"I attribute part of it (the loss) to lack of ice time for our guys," Smith said. "We just don't have any ice to practice on."

Smith praised Nikiski goalie Jonathan Parnell.

"I think he did a good job out there for coming off the bench," Smith said. "He stopped a lot of shots."
