ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Rescuers have found a missing Shishmaref elder in good shape, Alaska State Troopers said Tuesday.
Davis Kiyutelluk, 78, failed to arrive home Sunday night on a trip from Brevig Mission. He left about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, driving a tracked vehicle that was reported to be in poor condition, troopers said.
Kiyutelluk was found shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, about 50 miles south of Shishmaref. Trooper spokesman Greg Wilkinson said the elder's snow cat had broken down.
Kiyutelluk had winter clothes, food, water and extra gasoline.
On Monday an Army National Guard helicopter searching for the elder had to turn back because of bad weather, Wilkinson said.
