School superintendent speaks at chamber lunch

Donna Peterson, superintendent for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, will be the guest speaker at today's luncheon of the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce.

The lunch begins at noon at the Riverside House in Soldotna. It is open to the public.

No chamber lunch in Nikiski this week

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will not meet Thursday, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

The next chamber meeting will be Nov. 29, and a representative from Houston Contracting will be the guest speaker.

Christmas comes to Kenai celebration Friday

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will sponsor Christmas Comes to Kenai on Friday. Santa will arrive at the chamber cabin via fire truck at 11:30 a.m. Children are invited to bring their wish-lists and sit on Santa's lap. Cookies, candy canes and hot chocolate will be provided. The Electric Light Parade will begin at 6 p.m., with the Christmas tree lighting to follow. The bonfire and fireworks will begin at 7 p.m.

Annual Kenai craft show starts Friday

The annual Arts and Crafts Fair will be held Friday and Saturday at Kenai Central High School. The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be lots of old favorites and some new vendors, ranging from Fairbanks to Homer. The fair is sponsored by the Kenai Art Guild.

Mission to Mars set for Saturday

The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska is offering a simulated space mission to Mars on Saturday at 9 a.m. The mission is open to those grade six through adult and the entry fee is $25. Advanced registration is required. For more information, call 283-2000.

Hospital service area board to meet Monday

The Central Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board will meet Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Iliamna room at Central Peninsula General Hospital. For more information, call 262-9892 or 398-0297.

Alaska Legal Services rep to visit Sterling

A representative from Alaska Legal Services will be available at the Sterling Senior Center at 2 p.m. Nov. 27 to answer legal questions for those serving as a family care-giver. For more information, call 262-6808.

Shelter volunteers needed

The Kenai-Soldotna Women's Resource and Crisis Center is seeking volunteers to assist advocates and provide client services at the LeeShore Emergency Shelter and the Transitional Living Center.
