Soldotna chamber will not meet today
The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce's weekly luncheon meeting has been canceled this week because of the Thanksgiving holiday. The next luncheon meeting is scheduled for noon Nov. 28 at the Riverside House. The speaker will be Dennis Murray of Heritage Place.
Free business seminar offered
The Business Opportunities Network will present a free seminar from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. The seminar, "Keys to Effective Interpersonal Communicating," will focus on one-on-one communication in business-related issues of concern to the self-employed. For more information, call 260-2663.
Commercial fishing group to meet tonight
The nonprofit commercial fishing group Cook Inlet Fisherman's Fund Inc. will meet at 7 tonight at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building. Information will be provided on ways to save and enhance the Cook Inlet commercial fishing industry. Agenda items include updates on the Exxon Valdez lawsuit, the just compensation lawsuit, membership and the goals of the group.

Pies up for auction
There will be a pie auction at 7 tonight at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Pies are homemade. All proceeds will go to the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Kenai. For more information, call 283-9062.
Detention facility topic at chamber luncheon
The Homer Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon at noon today at the Homer Elks. Ed McClain, assistant superintendent of instruction for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, and Jinny Espenshade, director of the Kenai Peninsula Youth Court, will speak on the proposed juvenile detention facility for the peninsula.
