ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A 43-year-old fugitive from California was arrested this week on a fishing boat in the Ketchikan harbor.

Ketchikan police said James L. Jespersen is wanted in California on weapons offense warrants. Jespersen, who was working as deckhand, was arrested Monday.

Ketchikan Police Chief Grant Sirevog said police got a tip from Craig police that Jespersen was on board a fishing vessel and was wanted in California. Sirevog said the warrants were confirmed with the Trinity County Sheriff's office in California.

Jesperson will be extradited to California to face his charges there, the chief said.
