Phillips to speak at Kenai chamber

Former Rep. Gail Phillips, R-Homer, who is running for lieutenant governor on the Republican ticket, will speak at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce luncheon today.

Her topic will be regional boarding schools and training centers and the impacts they have on communities. Lunch is at noon at the Old Town Village Restaurant. For more information, call 283-7989.

Community Thanksgiving service planned

There will be a community Thanksgiving service at the Sterling Senior Citizens Center today at 7 p.m.

Salvation Army Thanksgiving dinner Thursday

The Salvation Army's community Thanksgiving dinner will be at the Community Center building at the corner of Second Avenue and Forest Drive in Kenai, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.

The Salvation Army also is inviting anyone to volunteer, or donate, if they wish. There are enough turkeys, but there is still a need for stuffing, real potatoes, marshmallows, onions, rolls, butter, green and black olives, sweet and dill pickles, tomatoes and other vegetables, ranch dressing, chips and dip and whipped topping.

Immunization clinic canceled Thursday

There will be no immunization clinic on Thursday at the Soldotna Elks Club, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. For more information, call the Kenai Public Health Center at 335-3400.

Community Thanksgiving service Sunday

Marriage Savers and a group of central peninsula pastors will hold a community thanksgiving service at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium at Kenai Central High School. The service will include: thanking God for his blessings on the country and state; thanks to the many ministries that help the community; honoring longtime marriages; and worship music. There is no admission.

Evening story time at Kenai library
