Health center to close for Thanksgiving
The Kenai Public Health Center will be closed Thursday due to the Thanksgiving holiday. On Friday, the health center will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. and will close at 4:30 p.m.
The immunization schedule for the clinic is as follows: 1:30 to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the center at 630 Barnacle Way Suite A; and 1:30 to 4 p.m. Thursdays at the Soldotna Elks Lodge off Delta Avenue. For more information, call 335-3400.
Free car seat check up Saturday
The Kenai Peninsula Safe Kids Coalition will hold a free car seat checkup from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai Fire Department, 105 South Willow.
Participants will be able to have car seats checked out by a safety specialist.

Grant writing workshop set
Healthy Communities-Healthy People is sponsoring a grant writing workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 8 at Bridges. Stan Steadman will present. The cost is $35. For more information, call Cara Steadman at 394-2527.
Firefighters plan basketball fund-raiser
The Kenai Firefighters Association will play in a basketball game against a team of NFL and Hollywood celebrities at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Kenai Central High School gymnasium.
The game is a fund-raiser for the association. Tickets are $12.50 for one adult or two children. The public is encouraged to attend.

Victorian tea scheduled
Peninsula Take a Break will hold a Victorian Christmas Tea from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 17 at the Solid Rock Conference Center. Julia Heasley of Anchorage will speak about how to find balance and joy during stressful times. Music will be provided by Kate Jefferson. Gift wrapping ideas also will be presented.
