Fried turkey fund-raiser sizzling

The Lions Club is offering to deep fry turkey’s Tuesday at the Nikiski Senior Center at Island Lake Road, one mile off the Kenai Spur Highway. Birds must be thawed, cleaned and come with an extra pan. The cost is $10 for a 20 (or under) pound turkey. For more information and times, call 776-7654.

Pie fund-raiser gets cooking

Holiday pies will be available at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the M and M Market. The pies are made by the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center. The cost is $10 for fruit pies or $12 for pecan pies.

Drivers safety class scheduled

AARP is offering a driver safety class from 6 to 10 p.m. Dec. 2 and from 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Kenai River Center in Soldotna. Possible benefits are having a ticket dismissed and getting a reduction on insurance. Teens and their parents are welcome. The cost is $10 for materials. For more information, call 260-3966.

Team trying to score odd jobs

The Skyview High School boys soccer team is seeking work opportunities to earn money for new uniforms. The team is willing to shovel driveways, roofs, wash cars, move items and other odd jobs. For more information, call Tyler Thornton at 262-4491.

Swim coach sought

The Soldotna Silver Salmon Swim team is seeking an assistant coach. Hours needed will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, plus meets. For more information, call coach Marey at Soldotna High School.

Community group seeking members

The Sterling Community Coalition Group will hold it’s first elections in February. There are nine directorships, three of which are up for election. Sterling residents are encouraged to join the SCCG by completing an application form.
