Table tennis tournament set

The Soldotna Elks hold table tennis tournaments every Wednesday night beginning at 7. For more information, call Gary at 335-2847.

Senior cafe open

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center's Breakfast Cafe is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. It features an all-you-can-eat buffet. The cost is $ 6.50 family rates are available. The cafe is closed on major holidays.

SAD presentation slated

Kristy Sellers, from Central Peninsula General Hospital, will give a presentation from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Kenai Community Library conference room. Her topic will be Seasonal Affective Disorder.

The presentation is the second in a year-long series of monthly presentations focusing on mental health topics given by area mental health professionals. For more information, call 283-4378.

Craft fairs vendors needed

The Sterling Elementary PTA is seeking vendors for its holiday craft fair to be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 10 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 11. Booth space is available. The cost is $50.

Pie fund-raiser gets cooking

The Kenai Senior Connection Inc. is accepting orders for 10-inch, deep-dish apple or pumpkin pies. Deadline for orders is today. Pies will be ready for pick up from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the center.

Christmas celebration set

The city of Kenai will host its annual Christmas Comes to Kenai community celebration Friday. Schedule of events will be as follows; 11:30 a.m. Santa arrives via fire truck at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center and cookies and cocoa will be served; 6 p.m. the Electric Light Parade, followed by the Christmas tree lighting, bon fire, sing-along and Victorian Carolers; and at 8 p.m. is the fireworks display.

Parade entries sought

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce is seeking entries for its Electric Light Parade, held at 6 p.m. Friday. For more information or an entry form, call 283-7989.

Women's basketball league forming

The Kenai Recreation Center is taking registration for its Women’s City League Basketball team. The season will run January through March. Player fees are $50 and $350 for teams.

Master gardeners to take root

A Master Gardner class has been scheduled for January and February for the Kenai-Soldotna area. Class topics will cover skills and techniques to successfully garden in Alaska.
