Ari Goldstein, a 2005 graduate of Soldotna High School, was named to the All-Midwest Regional Team at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship at Iowa City, Iowa, on Nov. 12.
Goldstein placed 10th in the meet with a career-best time of 21 minutes, 14 seconds for six kilometers. Goldstein was the top freshman finisher at the meet and the only freshman to earn a spot on the All-Midwest Regional Team. Goldstein and Nebraska senior Kayte Tranel, who finished eighth, led Nebraska to a fifth-place finish at the meet.
“Both Kayte and Ari ran really good races,” Nebraska coach Jay Dirksen said in a released statement. “They were lights out. As a team, we ran our best race of the year. This is a big improvement from a year ago. The future certainly looks bright for our women’s team.”
Tranel qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships today in Terre Haute, Ind., while Goldstein just missed a berth to the meet.
