Vendors sought for bazaar

The Sterling Elementary School PTA will hold a craft fair Dec. 1 and 2. The cost for a space is $50 for two days. Deadline for reserving a space is Nov. 20 or until spaces are reserved.

Cameras, photo printers sought

The Soldotna Rotary Club is seeking donations of working digital cameras and photo printers for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District's art program. Equipment may be dropped off at Sweeney's Clothing or Joe Kashi's law office.

High school art contest continues

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Jerry V. Horn Memorial Post 10046, will sponsor the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Awards program. Developed in 1978, the program encourages high school students to use their artistic talents to express their patriotism while becoming eligible for funds to further their education.

Artwork, including digital art entries, must be on paper or canvas. (No discs or CDs will be accepted.) Water color, pencil, pastel, charcoal, tempera, crayon, acrylic, pen-and-ink or oil may be used. Artwork must be matted but not framed. The art should be no smaller than 8-by-10 inches and no larger than 18-by-24 inches, not including the mat.

Students enrolled in grades nine-12, including homeschooled students, are eligible to participate. In addition to monetary awards on the local level, the first place winner's entry will be forwarded to state level judging. The first place state winner's entry will be entered into the national judging where the first prize is $10,000, a jacket, a plaque and airfare plus two nights lodging to attend the 2008 Ladies Auxiliary National Convention.

Deadline for entries is Dec. 3. Entries should be delivered to the Kenai Fine Arts Center located at 816 Cook Ave., Kenai.

Cookies by the pound available

Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church will hold its 13th Annual Cookies 'Buy' the Pound holiday bake sale from 10 a.m. (until cookies are gone) Dec. 8 until at the church at 225 S. Spruce Street in Kenai. Proceeds will benefit the youth group activities.

Raffle fundraiser set

A raffle fundraiser for a laptop computer, 32 inch flat screen TV or digital hanycam to benefit Jack and Sharee Martin has begun. Tickets cost $10 each and are available from Ron's Rent It Center, Ron's Honda, Country Foods and Sweeny's. The drawing will be held Dec. 21.
