Stars beat Mariners

Soldotna senior Clayton Glick recorded a hat trick and added a pair of assists and freshman Sean Endsley had two goals and an assist in leading the visiting Stars to an 8-2 victory over Homer on Tuesday.

Daniel Markstrom and Anton Olson each tallied a goal and an assist and Kevin Garske added two assists as Soldotna jumped in front 3-1 following the first period and 5-1 after the second.

Sophomore John-Michael VinZant scored the other goal for the Stars, who were outshot overall, 32-31.

Tracy Quance scored a power-play goal for Homer and Aaron Lewis netted the Mariners' second goal at the 4:12 mark of the third period.

Mike McGrath and Stephen Kendrick combined to save 30-of-32 shots for the Stars while Homer's Luke Ekert turned away 23 of the 31 shots that came his way.
