Alaska can do more to help those on Medicare
Alaskans on Medicare deserve some help. A recent survey by the University of Alaska confirms what many seniors know from experience. If you're over 65, and rely on Medicare, most general practice, or "primary care" physicians won't see you. It's a problem that is most acute in Anchorage, but is starting to spread across the state. It's a problem we should fix.

Soldotna soldier awarded Bronze Star
Capt. Kyle Bushon of Soldotna was recently awarded the Bronze Star for his actions while deployed in the Karbala Province of Iraq. As a tank platoon leader, Bushon planned and executed security movements for the Karbala Provincial Reconstruction Team to various infastructure projects, meetings with government and military officials, and civic events throughout the province. His platoon conducted more than 50 combat patrols, escorting the Provincial Reconstruction Team to various locations in support of their mission to help increase the capacity and competence of the Karbala Provincial Government.

Tennis collects crown
Auston Tennis won an individual championship at 145 pounds and five of his teammates took home top-six finishes as the Soldotna High School wrestling team placed sixth at the Glen Vandergaw Invitational at Dimond High School on Friday and Saturday.
Palmer skaters top Kards
WASILLA -- Sometimes skating with only four players isn't necessarily a bad thing. Palmer scored a trio of 4-on-4 goals during a 4-1 win over the Kenai Central Kardinals in the third-place game of the Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Hockey Tournament at the Menard Arena in Wasilla.
