Longtime Kenai resident Kathy L. Anderson died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna after a long illness. She was 53.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Peninsula Memorial Chapel. Pastor Steven Brown will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the Spruce Grove Memorial Park in Kasilof.
Ms. Anderson was born Sept. 13, 1949, in Powers Lake, N.D., She moved to Kenai in 1977 from Denver. She worked in the construction field as a pipefitter and iron worker for most of the oil companies. She enjoyed camping, decorating, crafts, fishing and remodeling projects.
"Kathy was a very hard worker. She always put the needs of others above herself. She was a very strong and compassionate woman always willing to help others," her family said. "She will be missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Butch Anderson; her brother, Kim Anderson; and her nephew, Curey David.
She is survived by her four children, Danny Boen, Tristan Anderson, Kristian Hammond and Danaisa Williard; her sisters, Shari Wilson, Tamara Anderson, Teresa Anderson and Sharrell Boen; her brothers, Steven Anderson, Randy Anderson, Shane Anderson, Robert Anderson and Jimmy Anderson; eight grandchildren; and 60 nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
